| Frossasco
is located at the base of the alpine
foothills at the entrance of the
Val Noce (Valley of the Walnut River).
A town rich in history, originally
of Roman origin and still preserving
the typical development of a "Castrum,"
with its square shape and grid pattern
street plan. With the four gateways
entering the town and much of the
13th century stone wall still preserved,
Frossasco is unique in Piedmont.

At
Frossasco, where the lowland surrenders
its space to sweet slopes, the characteristic
vineyards of the Pinerolese grow
and flourish. Here, in the heart
of the zone of DOC Pinerolese, are
the vineyards and wine cellars of
Dora Renato. |
|
The
area around Frossasco is a part of the
territory of the Olympic Mountains,
This region is hosting the 2006 Winter
Olympics and it is this environment
and landscape that characterizes the
viticulture of the Pinerolese territory.
A definite heroic viticulture that gives
origin to of the typical wines not reproducible
elsewhere.
 |
For
this reason the Pinerolese area
falls under the jurisdiction of
CERVIM (Centre of searches, Studies
and Exploitation for Mountain Viticulture),
a corporate body that as well as
other activities; have for many
years organized the International
Contest of Mountain Wines. This
is an annual contest in which the
wines of the Dora Renato always
get excellent recognition. |
